A WAY OF SEEING

The past,
made present.

Marlies Dinnissen lives and works in the creative hub of Modekwartier in Arnhem, where she runs her one-woman jewellery studio. With a background in interior design, Marlies found her true creative outlet in metal and jewellery making. Early in her career she began exploring the expressive potential of materials through hands-on craft and soon discovered that old ceramics — shards found at flea markets or inherited heirlooms — could become beautiful, personal jewellery.

Since 2014, Marlies has been crafting minimalist silver jewellery in which every piece reflects her commitment to reusing and repurposing materials responsibly. She uses recycled silver and ceramic fragments sourced locally in the Netherlands, ensuring that each design not only has aesthetic value but also a lower environmental impact.

Her atelier in Arnhem serves as both a workshop and a vibrant space for community engagement. Here she creates her own collections, works with clients on bespoke pieces based on cherished ceramics or meaningful remnants, and hosts hands-on workshops that invite others to experience the joy and depth of making. Whether crafting a ring from a broken plate that once belonged to a loved one or combining silver with reclaimed materials in inventive ways, Marlies’s work embodies the transformative power of upcycling — giving old materials new life and personal significance.
