A WAY OF SEEING

The past,
made present.

Martino Gamper is an award-winning designer whose work explores the creative possibilities hidden within existing objects. Born in Italy and based in London, he has built an international reputation by reimagining discarded furniture and overlooked materials rather than designing exclusively from new resources.

His approach is rooted in curiosity and craftsmanship. Instead of seeing worn or unwanted furniture as waste, Gamper sees each piece as the beginning of a new story. By combining, altering, and reconstructing existing objects, he creates furniture that is both functional and sculptural, preserving traces of the past while giving them an entirely new identity.

One of his most influential works, 100 Chairs in 100 Days, became a landmark project in contemporary design. Over one hundred consecutive days, Gamper created a unique chair every day using found and discarded furniture. The project demonstrated that creativity often flourishes under constraints and that existing materials can inspire forms impossible to achieve with new production alone.

Beyond furniture design, Gampers practice includes exhibitions, installations, interiors, product design, and research into material culture. His work frequently questions consumerism and encourages a more thoughtful relationship with the objects that surround us.
