A WAY OF SEEING

The past,
made present.

Based in the Netherlands, Tejo Remy is a pioneering figure in conceptual and sustainable design, and a key member of the influential Droog Design collective. His work challenges traditional ideas of consumption by rethinking how objects are made, used, and valued.

Remy became widely recognized for his iconic “Chest of Drawers”, a piece composed entirely of mismatched, second-hand drawers bound together — a powerful statement on reuse, individuality, and the hidden stories within everyday objects. Rather than designing from new materials, he works with what already exists, embracing imperfection and diversity as essential qualities of design.

His approach goes beyond aesthetics; it questions the lifecycle of products and encourages a deeper emotional connection between people and objects. By giving new meaning to discarded items, Remy highlights the potential of upcycling as both a creative and cultural act.
